Getting started in blockchain can be overwhelming. Everyone has an opinion on the best chain, language, or tools. Not knowing where to look or who to ask. Someone trying to sell you their blockchain class for thousands of dollars. This past year has really opened up the use of webinars and most importantly free webinars. Algorand is getting out there and providing a lot of education in this way.

If you are like me, you have limited time and limited resources. You have some coding skills to get going but need that little help to figure out where to go next. After spending time working with Ethereum and Solidity, I have found Algorand refreshing and fun to work with. Algorand is also an affordable and environmentally safe option, as it is a proof-of-stake decentralized platform.

In the past year, Algorand has made significant improvements to get developers on their chain and improve the overall experience. They are focused on development tools and making it easier for developers to deploy. I have sat in on Algorand’s Developer Office Hour Calls and had questions answered by the same people that are building the chain.

If you come from the Ethereum world, imagine having access to Vitalik Buterin for hour-long sessions where you can ask him best practices while building your Dapp. That’s is what it has been like using Algorand’s Developer Office Hours and Discord channel.

As promised, here are the 4 resources that are providing Bootcamp information at zero cost. Algorand is growing and it's a really exciting time to be a part of it.

Resource #1 is Algorands Developer Office Hours. You can watch past webinars as they become available on their YouTube channel. Ok, so that is 2 resources for the price of one. I told you Algorand is efficient.;)

Resource #2 is the Algorand Discord server. So many of your questions have already been answered by other Algorand developers. What is great about the server is that everyone is there to get better at developing on Algorand. You are not getting spammed with the nonsense that you have to constantly filter out.

Resource #3 is the Reach Platform by Christopher Swenor and Jay McCarthy. Picture a Swiss Army Knife for building an application on the blockchain. It is a massive head start in your production and learning process. They work with Algorand and join in on some of the office hours and give great insight into what’s going on with blockchain development.

Resource #4 is Encode Club. Encode club specializes in helping teach blockchain development through webinars and hack-a-thons. They also cover other chains and promote learning blockchain development.

If you are excited about blockchain or DeFi, you should do your research and see what suits you. There are many options out there and it's easy to get lost in the hype. I wrote an article on getting started with Yieldly, Algorand’s first DeFi project that is taking off. It’s a great example of what can be built on Algorand. You can read it here:

Take advantage of the free resources that are out there including the docs. It won’t be long and we will have to buy tickets and go to events just to get a sample of what is out there right now.

Thanks for reading.
